A Primavera Chegou ao Vulcão do Pico

"Grief engulfed me after my great love died, in 2020. Tears didn’t allow me to see anything at all, apart from my terrible sadness.

One day, in the Spring of 2021, I noticed the brown cow, the happy sheep, the amazing swallow, the trees in full bloom, the volcano with snow, the traditional boat, the sea, the sunset. For the first time in a long time, I saw everything that was part of my daily walk. I felt an immense love for this island, for life, for my great love. I knew that he is and always will be inside my heart and that the period of grief was coming to an end. Then and there, the seeds of this painting were planted.

When “A Primavera Chegou ao Vulcão do Pico” was finished, I understood with great pride that this painting is a song of love, a poem to life and the conquest of joy against despair."

The next generation look at us for inspiration and I know that my paintings inspire many people and give them true joy and true hope. My life has been worth living by being constantly faithful to my work and my ethos as a human being.”
