Le Vase de Fleurs

“I was commissioned by the renowned art dealer, Vinca Bigo, to put on an exhibition at the Carousel du Louvre, in Paris. I still remember the day I was taken to the Restaurant Retro, under the Pyramide, and I was asked to create paintings for that amazing space. After reading “Aphrodite” by Isabel Allende, I decided to create 35 paintings, inspired by the ritual of food. The exhibition represented a feast with all its components: the table settings, the food, the protagonists, the picnic (the climax of it all, the moment of conquest and passion). l'm still amazed by the amount of creativity and fun that I had during those months creating the paintings and the incredible joy of seeing all the cooks and waiters in the restaurant raptured by the whole exhibition. It was the triumph of imagination.”
